115g (4oz) Butter or Margarine
115g (4oz) Caster Sugar
85g (3oz) golden syrup
225g (8oz)  Rolled Oats
1 Teaspoon Vanilla essence
small handful of raisins (optional)

Preheat the oven to 180c/350f/Gas 4 and line the tin with baking paper, i placed the baking paper onto a baking tray.
Melt the butter or margarine, sugar and syrup together. Stir in the oats and Vanilla essence then turn out onto the baking paper spread the mixture then bake for 25 minutes, Do not over cook.

Cut into portions and lift from the tray while warm, i placed on a wire rack to cool down fully before i lifted the flapjacks from the baking  paper, I managed to get 18 slices from the mixture, but you can get more of less depending how you cut them.

This recipe was from one of my favourite cookbooks called The Dinner Lady, i have made these quite a few times, and they are a tasty treat for the whole family to enjoy.

  1. I love flap jacks, unfortunately my boys aren't sure, which leads to me eating them all! oops xx

  2. Mmm I love flapjacks! Not made them in ages but really ought to as my daughter also enjoys eating them :)
