The Works - Review

We received a £10 book token courtesy of the lovely people at The Works to go and spend in one of their branches, we looked online to find our nearest store and set off on our journey...On arriving at the store we were amazed at the fantastic discounted prices, such a huge selection to choose from.

My son chose the Horrid Henry book set, containing 5 books, and two Tom Gates Books, so for just under £11 pounds my son came away with 7 fantastic books to read..he was over the moon.

As soon as we got on the train to go home my son wanted to read one of the Tom Gates books, he loved all the illustrations and was telling me all about the book as he was reading it..as a mum i love listening to my son read, it is a great way for us interact and communicate, reading books really get the imagination going, he cant wait to turn the page to find out what is going to happen next in the story.

The Works are asking a very important question...how does reading with your children differ from watching the TV?

Although my son does watch TV.. I find it only can provide him with limited thinking and communication..he doesn't really have to think about what is going on in front of him.. he can just sit there without having to react as it does very little for his imagination..TV does have its place in our house..but i find reading with my son much more engaging as he really uses his imagination..it is also a wonderful bonding experience for both of us.

The Works are promoting the benefits of reading book over TV you can check out their fantastic range of books here they offer an amazing selection of books at discount prices.

We had such a brilliant time visiting The Works we are really looking forward to our next visit.

Disclosure: all thoughts and opinions are mine and my sons.
